When a kidney stone drops into the ureter (the tube connecting the kidney to the bladder) and gets stuck, it causes excruciating 'colic' pain. Ureteroscopy (URS) is the gold standard for removing these trapped stones.

How The Procedure Works
1. Scope Insertion
A thin telescope is passed through natural pathways into the ureter. No incisions are made.
2. Laser Lithotripsy
A Holmium laser fiber is touched to the stone, breaking it into extractable fragments.
3. Basket Extraction
A tiny wire basket is deployed to grab the stone chunks and pull them entirely out of your body.
4. Stenting
A soft JJ stent is usually left in the ureter for a few days to prevent swelling and ensure urine drains freely.
