Urological Oncology

Combating Urologic Cancers

A cancer diagnosis is overwhelming. Our Uro-Oncology division is dedicated to providing rapid, accurate diagnostics and aggressive, curative surgical treatments for malignancies of the genitourinary tract.

We believe in a multi-disciplinary approach, working alongside medical and radiation oncologists to provide a comprehensive, tailored treatment plan that prioritizes both survival and quality of life.

Cancers We Treat

Prostate Cancer

The most common non-skin cancer in men. Treated via active surveillance, radiation, or Radical Prostatectomy.

Kidney Cancer (RCC)

Renal Cell Carcinoma is often found incidentally on imaging. We prioritize kidney-sparing Partial Nephrectomies when possible.

Bladder Cancer

Often presenting as blood in the urine. Managed via TURBT for early stages, or Radical Cystectomy for invasive disease.

Testicular Cancer

A highly curable cancer in young men. Managed with prompt surgical removal (Orchiectomy).

Why Choose Dr. Athar Hameed?

In cancer surgery, surgical margins and lymph node clearance are paramount. Dr. Athar Hameed utilizes advanced techniques to ensure the cancer is completely removed while employing nerve-sparing protocols to preserve continence and sexual function whenever oncologically safe.

Frequently Asked Questions

Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) is a blood test used to screen for prostate cancer. An elevated PSA does not mean you have cancer, but it indicates the need for further investigation, such as an MRI or biopsy.
Not always. For smaller tumors, we perform a 'Partial Nephrectomy,' cutting out only the tumor and leaving the healthy portion of the kidney intact.
No, it can be caused by infections, stones, or enlarged prostates. However, painless visible blood in the urine is the classic sign of bladder cancer and must be evaluated with a cystoscopy immediately.
